When we begin to walk deeper with God we begin to see the important of doing God's will. Submitting to God's will is the primary focus of Christianity. We need to show absolute obedience when it comes to the will of God. No parent likes a child of his who is disobedient to him. If we are the children of God, then our obedience to his will should prove it.
Everything that we do in God's name would all be in vain if we are negligent to doing his will. We experience God's promises for our lives when we are obedient to him in all totality. People who disregard the will of God live outside God's plan.
Ecclesiastes 12:13 - Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
Observing the will of God is not really a choice, it is more like an obligation. In every where of life we find ourselves, keeping his commandments is applicable to everyone of us. We all have our respective purposes for why God sent us down to earth. But then we also have a common duty and that is obedience to his will.
Matthew 28:20 - Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
Every of God's commandments given unto us are all important. None of them should be ignored. We should not do some and then filter out the rest. One of the reasons why we should walk in line with God's will is because it comes with rewards. We can't be expecting God's visitation in our lives if we can't do what He says. That's why we should take the will of God seriously.
