Back when I wasn't playing in Frontier mode, I didn't own any cards from this set; however, since I started playing it recently, I’ve pulled quite a few cards from the Foundation set—and I managed this without any additional purchases, aside from a Water-element Archon and a few other cards. I had bought those specific ones from the open market while playing in Modern mode because my strategy at the time required them. Those cards remain part of my deck and still serve my strategy well in battles across both Modern and Frontier modes. Apart from those few exceptions, I earned all the other Foundation set cards as rewards for completing daily tasks while playing Frontier mode, and I am now upgrading many of them to higher levels.
Today, I noticed two cards from this set in my deck that were ready to be upgraded to the next level, so I promptly leveled them up one by one. The first was a common Water element card that I use in battles—albeit occasionally rather than consistently. I use it only sometimes because my Water element battles usually rely heavily on magic attack power; I have a 'Great Bear Druid' card (a Grey card) that is the perfect candidate to act as a tank in that strategy, thanks to its 1 melee and 1 magic attack power. Since melee attackers without specific abilities cannot attack from any position other than the front of the lineup, I haven't been able to freely use this 'Port Guardian' card in every battle, despite its excellent health and armor protection. However, as it grows stronger at higher levels, I hope to use it more frequently. With today's upgrade from Level 1 to Level 2, the card gained +1 armor, making it significantly more robust than before.
Today, I leveled up a second card from the Death element—a rare card named Moros Malik. To be honest, I didn't like this ranged attack card at all; even after upgrading it to Level 2, the chances of me actually choosing it are virtually nil. At a mana cost of 6, the card is incredibly basic—and I mean really basic—because it possesses only 1 point of ranged attack power. It’s not just about the low attack power, though; cards can still be useful if their other stats or abilities offer something special. However, this card has absolutely no abilities, and its other stats are completely lackluster. At Level 1, it had only 3 Health and 1 Speed. Just imagine: with such low health and the lowest possible speed, how is it supposed to protect itself from enemy "Opportunity" attacks? Its abysmal speed means it attacks last—and with a measly 1 ranged attack power, at that—assuming it even survives long enough to make a move. All in all, adding this card to the team just to soak up damage is a bad deal; even for that role, decent health would have allowed it to last 2–3 rounds, but that seems like a tall order for this card. Still, I hope that upgrading it to higher levels will improve its attack power and health, perhaps allowing me to confidently make it a part of my strategy.
