Ever since I started playing in the Wild format over the last two seasons, I hadn't been able to progress beyond Gold League Tier 3 in Modern; however, after taking a break from Wild, I have now unlocked Gold League Tier 2 in Modern. It took me about eight days to achieve this; during this period, I played exclusively in Modern鈥攁lbeit not for long sessions each day. My win rate currently stands at 55.6%, and having unlocked Gold 2, I also received 8 Minor and 5 Major chests as part of the welcome loot. I used Legendary and Alchemy potions while opening them鈥攎ore as a formality than out of any real expectation鈥攕ince Alchemy potions never yield any actual benefit, but as I mentioned, I used both simply to complete the process.
From 8 Minor Chests, I received 2 entries and an Alchemy Potion, along with 5 great cards鈥攊ncluding the "cherry on top": 2 Rare cards. Beyond those 2 Rares, the remaining 3 Common cards are also very useful in my battles: the Water element's Coralforged is upgraded to Level 2 (gaining a +1 speed boost); the Earth element's Husk of the Hunter is upgraded to Level 3 (adding +1 Health and the Headwinds ability); and the Life element's Palimpsest Prophet is upgraded to Level 4 (boosting Speed, Armor, and Health by +1 each). Among the Rare cards, I have the Fire element's Grove Doomblade upgraded to Level 2, granting it the Fury ability (which allows it to deal double damage against cards with Taunt), and the Earth element's Anchor-Hex Adept upgraded to Level 2, adding the Divine Shield ability. All in all, you can see that my deck has improved significantly beyond its basic Level 1 strength, and this process of improvement is ongoing.
I recently received three cards and three entries from five major chests. Although these three cards are of common rarity, I pulled multiple copies of each鈥攕pecifically, two copies of Palimpsest Prophet and three of Phlegmor; incidentally, both these cards are already upgraded to Level 4 in my deck. Another favorite of mine is the Earth element magic attack card, Stonebind Matron, currently upgraded to Level 3 in my deck; it boasts a +1 boost to both Health and Speed, allowing it to perform exceptionally well in magic-only battles or other strategic scenarios鈥攑rovided the enemy doesn't target it directly with an 'Opportunity' ability card. Overall, the cards obtained in this haul are enhancing my deck at higher levels and helping to improve my in-game ranking, though fully utilizing their potential requires Archons of a matching level; I own some of these, while I typically rent the others each season.
