Yesterday, I was in a little discussion with my good friend @chekohler. At least I consider him a friend because we share many common interests and I find his article to be interesting and his comments to be funny.
I was asking a simple question on Steem, and it was about whether or not there are any mobile applications available for the platform now (after all, eSteem and mostly all apps moved to Hive after the fork). So, I was just wondering about whether there are any mobile apps that still work with Steem anymore...
In our little chat (in the comment field), it was interesting to see how the discussion went on. And that is when I realized one of the big changes that happened with the fork...
Steem - When will Justin do something?
Because, in our little chat, we put words on the fact that Steemit and Justin Sun should get an app up and running. It is needed if the Steem platform is to move on. But, suddenly it came to my mind... what has happened? Until now, Steem has all been about us and that we should do it. If an app is needed, let us go ahead and make it.
But, now it is all about waiting for someone, that is the Steemit team or Justin Sun to do something. When it comes to activating the crowds and creativity, that isn't exactly a movement in the right direction.
Hive - Let us fix the problem ourselves!
Since there is no clear leadership in Hive, we do not actually have one special place to go with our trouble. We can write about it, ask about it, and come with ideas... but in the end, it is all up to ourselves about whether we will do something about it or not. There is nobody to blame, except for ourselves.
My goal is not to judge anyone here, but it is simply to share some thoughts about a change that happened with the platforms after the fork. I believe it is very healthy for a platform like this that we keep having the WE mentality because after all, it all depends on us!
If we want Hive to be a success...
- then we need to write high-quality content
- then we have to create the apps needed
- then we have to make this a place spending minutes and hours, also for those who are not really interested in the platform.
So, it is all about us. It is not about them. We are responsible. You are responsible!
