I often find macro photography allows us to find moments of presence because we have a single pointed focus on details rather than the whole, to get the shots in focus you have to keep really still, to the point of barely breathing, you also have to focus on the details, you have to look for the beauty and interest on a level of observation you just simply would not have day to day. People think meditation is sitting in a pose and focusing, but meditation is anything where you can stop thinking, where you can allow and spend some time being present without analysing and judgment. I personally find driving is one of my best forms of meditation, single pointed focus on the road, I often get downloads when driving and I have to pull over to write them down and record them, macro photography can be the same thing you have a total focus on something to the point that your mind is quiet from thinking. This is one of the reasons people enjoy extreme sports so much.
Today is my last day of house arrest since I got a neg test, I got a bit of fresh air on my balcony and took some macro shots of the plants I have left. It is winter here but surprisingly some of my plants still have flowers, I even still have a couple of tomato plants bearing fruit. There is also still some dill growing away happily! Sometimes it is good to just be present, and find the beauty in what is, rather than hoping for something else, like summer.
