Hello, my dear friends, I’m sharing this fabulous day with you today, as the goat fair was held in Los Robles today, so my sister and I made the most of the day to have it all to ourselves. I say ‘we’ because we came over at 12 noon to have a lovely time here at the fair, where a competition had been organised to award a prize for the best version of this dish.

Hola, mis queridos amigos, hoy compartiendo con ustedes este fabuloso día, ya que hoy se celebró en Los Robles la feria del chivo, así que mi hermana y yo aprovechamos este día para tomárnoslo para nosotras. Digo nosotras porque nos vinimos desde las 12 del mediodía a pasar un rato agradable aquí en esta feria, en la cual se había programado un concurso para premiar a la mejor preparación de este platillo.
I thought it was really good; there were various goat dishes on offer that looked delicious, but I wasn’t lucky enough to try them, as the queues were far too long to order whatever I fancied at whichever stall I chose, and I didn’t want to queue; the queue was so long because there were loads of people wanting to eat goat, so I ended up sharing a cachapa with cheese with my sister, along with a delicious dessert – a soursop cake – and some lovely sugarcane juice with pineapple. Then, once we’d finished our meal and everything else, we treated ourselves to some lovely mojitos; to be honest, they were absolutely brilliant, so I was really surprised by the number of people who’d turned up at this fair.

Para mí me pareció que estuvo muy buena; había distintas preparaciones de chivo que se veían muy buenas, pero que no tuve la suerte de poderlo probar, ya que las colas eran muy largas para poder pedir el plato según la estación donde decidiera comprarlo, pero no quería hacer cola; estaba muy larga porque había mucha gente queriendo comer chivo, así que me tocó comerme una cachapa con queso junto con mi hermana y un delicioso postre como lo era una torta de guanábana, unos ricos jugos de papelón con piña y después, al finalizar la comida y todo lo demás, hicimos deleitarnos el paladar con unos ricos mojitos; la verdad estaban demasiado buenos, así que me quedé muy sorprendida por la cantidad de gente que había acudido en esta feria.
We also took the opportunity to snap a quick photo to recreate a moment just like one we experienced several years ago, and I thought it looked really good too; there were lots of stalls promoting other typical regional products. I had a brilliant day, although by the time we were ready to leave they still hadn’t announced the winner of the Chivo Fair competition. Aprovechamos también para tomarnos una fotito para recrear un momento igual a este vivido hace varios años atrás y también me pareció que estaba muy buena; había muchas estaciones que promocionaban otros productos típicos de la región. Pasé un día estupendo, aunque a la hora de venirnos no habían dicho quién era el ganador del concurso de la feria del Chivo.
