Hice n煤meros y me faltaba dinero, as铆 que junt茅 todos mis ahorros, mi pago quincenal y a煤n as铆 me faltaba dinero, as铆 que pens茅 en canjear las recompensas de mis posts, y gracias a ello pude completar el dinero necesario para hacer mis lentes.
Sal铆
Hello everyone, welcome to my blog.
I've been wearing glasses since I was seven years old. I have always been short-sighted, and I have always been aware that my eyes are not very effective when it comes to seeing. That is why I do everything with my glasses on, even showering and sleeping.
However, wearing my glasses all the time made me dependent on them.
On Monday afternoon (5 days ago) when I got home, they fell on the floor while I was changing clothes, and it was a total disaster. The frame and lenses were completely broken, so they couldn't be repaired.
The next day, I went first thing to the optician's where a friend works to get new glasses. I tried on a few pairs and only liked one. I did the math and I was short on money, so I gathered all my savings and my fortnightly pay, but I was still short, so I thought about redeeming the rewards from my posts, and thanks to that, I was able to get the money I needed to make my glasses.
I tried to cope with life without glasses, but it was totally impossible. I went to the shopping centre twice to check out more lens options and do some shopping, and it was torture. I couldn't see almost anything without wrinkling my whole face and making a grimace that made my face hurt. I discovered that I can't distinguish people's faces from less than a metre away. And let's not even talk about the headaches.
Fortunately, yesterday afternoon they called to let me know that my glasses were ready, as they had been put on a priority list, and that I could pick them up whenever I wanted. Without hesitating for a second, I told my boss that I was going to pick up my glasses and that she could fire me if she wanted to, because I wasn't going to spend another second without my glasses.
They handed me the lenses, apologising for the delay, which I didn't understand, as I thought it took time to make lenses; but no, they explained that simple lenses can be made in a day or two, and that it had taken so long because my lenses are far from simple.
I've been wearing my new glasses since yesterday afternoon and I'm still having trouble adjusting to the new prescription in the eye that has more difficulties. It's too much, so much so that the lens sticks out of the frame.
I am very happy to have my glasses, and to have paid for them entirely myself. It is the first "big" purchase (for my student budget) that I have paid for and is entirely for me. It makes me feel that the days when I wanted to quit my miserable job and decided not to were worth it, as were the early mornings when I didn't sleep because I was preparing posts to publish on Hive.
I am proud of my glasses and happy to be able to see again.
Thank you all very much for reading and sharing.
I invite you to continue working hard for what you want, because one day it will be worth it.
See you next time.
