When I saw a poster on today's “Freedom March” conducted by women activists, printed “Say no to patriarchal society”, I started musing over it. Do we really live in a patriarchal society? Are we really suppressing “fair sex” from the start? But the answers echoing in my mind were quite contrasting.
When I looked back in history, my mind immediately reminded me of the Cleopatra dynasty. I was brought back to a time when women enjoyed more power than the Sultans of Ottomans. My mind reminded me of Empress Noor Jahan, Gulbadan Begum, and Jahanara Begun of the Mughal Empire. Likewise, many other examples as well when women enjoyed the position of power whether in the dynastical world or today’s democratic era. Not going away my thoughts brought me back to my own house where my mama possesses such an influential position and keeps frightening us with her blazing eyes.😂

I was so convinced by examples that popped into my mind that I started thinking that actually, I should march with a poster .” Say no to the matriarchal society” until I didn't remember the time when females were buried alive. I was not convinced by what was written on the poster in “Aurat March” until I was reminded of the time when women were nothing more than sex slaves. I remembered the incident when a woman was assaulted just because of wearing a printed shirt. I was reminded of those girls who are married against their will. I was reminded of those daughters on whom sons were prioritized.
When I was surrounded by these thoughts, I happened to see another poster stating “We want equal rights”. All the posters were in the hands of elite-class women. They were talking about equality who were discriminating through their wealth. Well, I was astonished to see the poster. Do the women in Pakistan really want to be treated like men?
Do they also want to enjoy just like a man by shouldering all those responsibilities that man does by confronting all the challenges? Does she also want not to give special treatment which our etiquette taught us to? Do they also want to take on full responsibility for earning food and other needs for their family?
Many ones will say yes and many ones will say no too.

Suddenly I came across another poster which was in the hands of a teen girl stating” Let me inhale with tranquility. Give me my rights”. This was I guess the most appropriate poster of the day. Appealing for the rights of which many ladies are deprived. Appealing for the rights which are essential for the life of the soul. Appealing for the rights that will give them their special status in the world.
•Right to live freely,
•Right to decide freely,
•Right to speak freely,
•Right to learn freely,
•Right to earn freely,
•Right to earn respect and achieve ambition.
The way time is evolving and new economic handicaps are coming, it will be a disastrous foolishness to keep women away from this arena. This will be a huge blunder of not letting women get aware and prepared for the new challenges. The recent COVID wave has corroborated that now it's not easy to survive for families who have sole earners. The participation of women is need of hour these days. Women can play a very key role in stabilizing the financial condition of the family.
Education is the most important right which must be given to girls at first. Provision and ease of provision of this right will pave the way to many other rights as well. Education gives us the ability to learn skills, to get to know about right or wrong, to identify our rights, and to work hard for the achievement of our ambitions. Despite being in the 21st century, we have a huge gender-based literacy ratio discrimination i.e. Males 72% and Females 49%.
Society must stop forced and early marriages. Marriages should not be enforced on girls. They must be left free to get their education and build their career if they want to. Most talented ladies get wasted just because of marriages as social norms don’t allow a married lady to work outside freely.
Climate change where wrecking havoc in all segments of society, and it is also affecting maternal health as well. As per reports, about 1 million females delivered babies in the camps set up for flood refugees which were without any such healthcare facilities. A special heed is required on this topic as well and stakeholders must bring in all the strategies to ameliorate this problem.
In the end, I will say that women are a beautiful part of society. If someone doubts on their potential, their intellect, their talent, and their strength then he is wrong. I would like to extend my great wishes to all the women of the world who are doing amazing world in any segment of society.
I would like to say :
•Kudos to every mother who is struggling to deliver her baby.
•Kudos to every girl who is eager to learn.
•Kudos to every girl who is looking forward to achieving her goals.
•Kudos to every girl who is impacting on this society positively.
•Kudos to every girl who is tolerating the bad sights and comments of vile and hoodlums but not getting discouraged.
•Kudos to every girl who is not exploiting her rights.
And in the end
•Kudos to all the ladies of hive.
