Nature never stops surprising us. When we think we have already seen any phenomenon, event or creature leaves us astonished.
Recently, he found near the coasts of Nag’s Head, North Carolina, a fish with a very strange look. The rare fish that weighs more than 8 pounds, has two incisors and five rows of molars that resemble the mouth of a human.
Its name is Sheepshead Fish (Archosargus probatocephalus). It is recognized among other things by the dark stripes that run through your body regularly gray. It is common throughout the Atlantic coast, from New York to Brazil.
Jennette’s Pier, a local business, published on his Facebook account Photos of the incredible fish captured very close to the coast and quickly became viral on social media. With thousands of people telling surprised by the strange similarity of this fish’s teeth with humans and others thinking that it was not a real animal and that the images were false.
These fish can grow over 35 inches long and normally feed on oysters, clams, crustaceans, and some other plant material.
Because of the complexity of their diet and the resistant shells of some of the animals they eat can be, evolution has granted them sharp molars that allow them to smash any hard surface and break it easily.
“I would not hesitate to swim in waters inhabited by these fish. They pose no threat to humans unless harassed. Since they are good to eat, sheepshead are targeted by anglers, so the handling of one after capture creates the possibility of being bitten or poked by their sharp dorsal end spines” Said David Catania, The Collections Manager for Ichthyology at The California Academy of Sciences.
