Friends of love's ardor,
Hate's sworn enemies:
With knowledge we barter
For conscience's appease.
Our life is replete
With a wondrous defeat
Of enigmas, so intricate, fine ---
And of our own design.
We are fully aware,
But insensitive, blind,
Leaving to others' care
The fears of our Mind.
We are lost,
In turbulence tossed
By answers begotten
Of questions forgotten.
How can Divinity's goal
Learn so well
To forsake Love's soul
For the hollow shell?
Accusing shadows grow
And darken to abysmal woe:
Man, Man, awake
To the Dawning only you can make!
