The Siege of Syracuse, was an event of the Second Punic War where the Roman Republic fought against the Carthaginian Republic, each with its respective allies such as the League of Aetolia and the Kingdom of Pergamum of the Roman side and, Syracuse and the Kingdom of Macedonia of the Carthaginian side.
As a result of this war between the greatest powers of the Mediterranean, the City-State of Syracuse was besieged by the Roman army led by the Roman general and consul Marco Claudio Marcelo, who had extensive experience in the military field, where he confronted the tyrant Epicides head of state of Syracuse and the great engineer and mathematician Arquimedes.

Even with this incredible planning and technology, the Romans would manage to climb the walls of the city during a festival of the Goddess Artemis where they would murder a group of parishioners and Archimedes himself even though there were orders not to assassinate him, although they managed to enter They managed to plunder the city and after the death of Archimedes it would take 8 months to finish the Site because a Syracusan traitor opened the gates of the city and so Syracuse would be under Roman influence until the fifth century and would bring great economic rewards and then strategic advantages to the Republic and then the Roman Empire.
