I am a domestic abuse survivor. The Man left me to die in a tiny room I survived. I have PTSD which pretty much erased most of the 3 years I spent with him. It is all wiped clean as is a large part of my childhood that the same trauma decided to retroactively erase. Psychologists will give you reasons in the end it just is.
If I met you during that time it is most likely that I will not remember you. Sometimes sights, sounds situations bring fragments back, or better said shadows of fragments. In 2018 I was part of a group of people who engaged in a one poem a day challenge. One of the participates Steve said something that triggered one of the ghosts this piece is about it.
