Hi Steemians,
this weekend I will be again busy with partying because it's carnival season and i'm playing drums in a "Guggen"-group (Brass band). I'm already in party-mood and thought about the good old pop-punk/skate punk hits which are well known from movies like American Pie.
So I thought: "Why not sharing some songs and bands of this genre, which I haven't listen to for a while?" - and here we are:
1. Blink 182
Whats my age again from the album Enema of the State from 1999
I guess Blink 182 are one of the most famous bands in this genre. Nearly everybody knows songs like "The Rock Show", "All The Small Things" or "First Date" - independent of what music you listen to normally. Founded in 1992 and with the release of their last album California in 2016 these guys are still in everyone's ear. Why 182? The band said that's how many times Al Pacino says "fuck” in the movie Scarface.
2. Mest
What's The Dillio from the album Wasting Time from 2000
Not as famous as Blink 182 but with a similar music style these guys can definitely keep up with Blink and others. I really don't know why they are not that famous but i guess they always were in the shadow of Blink. They started 1995 and released their second acoustic album "Broken Down 2" in 2017. Give it a listen!
3. Sum 41
Fat Lip from the debut album All Killer No Filler from 2001
A little heavier than the bands before - Sum 41 are an awesome punkrock band from Ajax, Canada formed in 1996. I remember listening their songs in school and playing drums to Fat Lip at home as a young rebel :D. In my opinion "All Killer No Filler" (2001) and "Chuck" (2004) were the best album - what do you think? Sum 41 = when the band started to take it serious they wanted to change their name, this was on the 41st day of Summer.
4. Zebrahead
Hell Yeah from the album Phoenix from 2008
Zebrahead started in 1996 in La Habra (Orange County, USA) and have more rap parts in their songs. I once saw them live around 2013 and it was one big party. I like their old works more than the new songs because the new ones are all written by the same schema. Anyway great music for parties :)
I could go on with so much more great bands. Green Day, The Offspring,... but i think 4 are enough this time. Also i think more than 4 are too much to listen to in one post.
What are your favorite skate punk/pop-punk bands or songs which get you in party mood? Give me some homework for the weekend! :D
Stay heavy and have a nice weekend!
