Collage/Shadowbox made with a magazine cutouts, fine paper, fiber paste, tissue, gel medium and varnish, pearl and antique silver tints and the bottom of a coke bottle.
It was going to be an eyeball; but then I was inspired.
It was a suprising find a few blocks away from us in Koreatown. A beautiful little cafe with an oasis in the backyard.
Koreatown is very cold on the outside; you have to go into the buildings to find warmth and beauty. Perhaps that is reflective of some people as well.
I have been going quite mad with collages of late.
This current piece went together to quickly for WIP images. First I pasted in a magazine cut out of a dish and applied fiber paste around the corners and the cardboard shadowbox. Then I pasted on the bottom of the coke bottle and melded fine paper to the bottle with the varnish and applied more fine papers and fiber past to the rest of the image.
After the tissue dried I strategically rubbed in the tints to bring forward the forks from the other dimension. Here is how the full piece appears now.
