I was able to score five of these heavy, thick, glass candy jars from a downtown merchant for only ten bucks!! They can go perfectly upright or at an angle, as pictured here. I am going to be moving this weekend, and one of my goals was to decrease the amount of plastic in the new house while increasing the stuff that is re-purposed & given a second life. These are perfect for holding grains or dehydrated fruits in the kitchen, paint brushes and other art supplies, scented epsom salts in the bathroom ... I could even make a little terrarium or water vase out of one or more of them!
For my situation, moving also means cleaning out the containers of food in the freezer and fridge. I found some freezer soup to go with some fridge rice and let me tell you - IT IS AMAZING y'all. The soup has ground pork, sliced cabbage, a tonne of garlic, mushrooms, tomato sauce in the broth ... then you add in this rice and some of that chive salt I made last summer. The soup was gone in five minutes. I didn't even feel like going to the trouble of adding the avocado that's in the kitchen. It ain't perdy, but it's amazing and I think there's one more container to finish. Double plus good!
I am also amazed, humbled, and flush with love at the community & knowledge that there is here - cheers and kisses and hugs all around!
