Sometimes, I sit down and think about how life works, and one thing I keep reminding myself is that nothing lasts forever. The way things are today does not mean they will remain the same tomorrow. Someone who is doing well today can face difficulties tomorrow, while someone who is struggling now may become successful in the future.
That is just how life is, and I believe we should always remember it.
I like to think about a big tree that provides shade for people. When the tree is healthy and full of green leaves, birds can build their nests on it, and people can enjoy sitting under its shade to enjoy breeze and avoid sunlight. But when the tree starts losing its leaves and drying up, things begin to change. The birds fly away, and people may no longer come around like before.
Sometimes, I feel human life is similar to that tree.
When you have money, people may want to be close to you. When you have a good job or occupy an important position, people may respect you because of what you have. But when things change and you no longer have those things, you may discover that not everyone who was around you was truly there for you.
This is one reason I believe we should never allow what we have today to make us feel superior to others.
Nobody actually knows tomorrow. The person you see struggling today may be doing better than you in the future. Even if that does not happen, does it mean the person deserves to be treated badly? I don't think so. We are all human beings, and everyone deserves to be treated with respect.
I personally believe being kind to people costs us very little. You don't need to have plenty of money before you can help someone, and you don't need to be rich before you can show respect. Sometimes, the way we speak to people or the little support we give them can mean more than we realise.
Life is already difficult enough for many people. So we should not make it harder for others just because we are fortunate enough to be in a better position today than others.
I know that nobody is perfect, and we all make mistakes. But I believe humility is something we should try to practise often. Whether we are successful or still struggling to achieve our dreams, we should remember that life can take unexpected turns.
My simple lesson from all this is that we should treat people well, regardless of their present situation. Don't wait until you need help before you learn to respect others. Don't let money or success change the kind of person you are.
At the end of the day, our position in life may change, but the way we made people feel can stay in their memories for a long time.
Let's be kind while we can. Nobody knows what tomorrow will bring.
