Hello Hives,
There was a time when I always felt like I had to fix everything.
If someone suddenly became distant, I would start wondering what I had done wrong. If a friend stopped talking to me, I would look for ways to make things right. Even when someone clearly wanted space, I would still try to understand what happened and find a way to bring things back to how they used to be.
Honestly, it could be exhausting.
But as I grow older, I’m starting to understand that not everything is mine to fix.
Not every silence needs an explanation. Sometimes people become quiet because they are going through something, and sometimes they simply no longer want the same relationship they once had.
Not every distance needs to be closed. People change. Priorities change. Life takes people in different directions. Some people who were once very close to us may eventually become strangers, and as painful as that can be, we have to accept it.
And not every person needs to be saved.
I have learned that you can truly care about someone and still recognize that you cannot make their decisions for them. You can offer advice, show love, support them, and be there when they need you, but at the end of the day, people have their own choices to make after all.
For a long time, I thought letting go meant giving up.
Now I see it differently.
Sometimes letting go is choosing peace over endless explanations. It is accepting that you did your best and understanding that some situations will never have the perfect ending you imagined.
Some things are simply meant to stay incomplete.
Some friendships will end without a proper goodbye. Some conversations will never happen. Some apologies will never come. Some people will leave without giving you the closure you wanted.
And yes, it can hurt.
But life becomes a little lighter when you stop trying to control everything.
These days, I’m learning to ask myself a simple question: “Is this really something I can change?”
If the answer is no, then I’m learning to step back.
I’m learning to protect my peace, accept what I cannot control, and stop carrying responsibilities that were never mine to begin with.
I don’t try to fix everything anymore.
I still care. I still love people. I still believe in making things right when it is possible.
But I’m also learning that sometimes the healthiest thing you can do is accept the situation, take the lesson, and move forward.
And honestly, I’m learning to be okay with that. ❤️
