Since I have moved to the city for attending some course at school, I have no more time to go back to my Hong Hong garden in the highland to take care of it. All things over there I must ask my friend to manage everything.
The life in the city is so busy to me, somehow I miss the fresh air, the nature, some random journeys to the forest or havesting the rice field with farmers. And, the feeling of lack of nature leads me to create a new idea, that is about building my small world in the balcony.
To be honest, in the city, I still do not have my own house, I stay with my sister in a tiny studio and there is a 2.5 metre square balcony which is empty and has a view to other neighbour. And I start swinging it into action!
I do not need to go to the plant store to buy soil, fertilizer or pot cause my in the previous time, my sister has bought all to grow and sow some vegetables. However, she stopped taking care of it because she has to burried herself in her works day after day for her deadline.
First of all, I used a rectangle tray (the largest one that I have) to sow water morning glory vegetable. This kind of vegetable is the easiest and fastest one to grow in my situation. The seeds of it have been aldeady in the sideboard since the pandemic was over.
Secondly, I carried out to grow some ornamental plants brought from my hometown. I have totally 4 pots.
Thirdly, a tray of melissa and gingers have been planted too. Cause I am a fan of herbal plants and those are the common trees which I can take advantage or use easily in any necessary circumstances.
The last one I planted is succulents. The story is about I have one friend who grows and sells those plants online and ofline. I took the opportunity of having some species in my balcony while supporting her a bit. I ordered 11 kinds of succulent in the end.
My worth mention is that where I can grow it. There is no space or empty tray in the balcony. After thinking and thinking, ohhhh – intercropping poped up my mind. I started use my mini tool to dig some holes in the other pots then put succulents into one by one.
The main problems in my sapling is 4 pots of ornamental plants. They are the species living and developing well in the temperature weather. Under the heat of Sai Gon likes burning my head, I am not sure they wil be well developed. May be some of them cannot stand for this harsh condition of weather strongly.
Time after time, my water morning glory, ginger and melissa starts germinating, budding and coming into leaf.
As my thoughts before, 2 pots of ornamental plants are out of their life because the heat of Sai Gon, 2 species of my succulent met a fate with them too because some heavy rain at nights made them being waterlogged.

At this moment, they are my essential needs, as a buddy, as a nice friend! I consider them as my lovely kids.
