Hello everyone. How are you today? I hope all is well with you and your family. It's been a while since my last home garden update, but I've been planting new vegetables continuously. Some have been successful, while others didn't quite make it. Usually, I start various vegetable seeds in 4 inch plastic pots to raise them as seedlings first. After that, I either move the seedlings into the ground, or keep growing them in the pots and just move the 4 inch plastic pots to my designated planting area. Several weeks ago, I bought a multi-cell plastic seed tray to try starting vegetable seedlings. This is my first time gradually planting seven types of vegetables in a seed tray. Includes celery, Thai eggplant, purple eggplant, hyacinth bean, spur chili and banana pepper. But I'm also grow three 4-inch plastic pots each of luffa, banana peppers and hyacinth beans.
Trying to grow 7 types of vegetables in a seedling tray for the first time was deeply disappointing and an absolute failure. Out of all the seeds, only two banana pepper seedlings emerged, while the others completely failed to sprout. However, the luffa, banana peppers and hyacinth beans that I planted in 4-inch plastic pots sprouted from seeds and are growing well.
The growth rate of banana peppers varies greatly between a seedling tray and 4-inch plastic pots. Although planted simultaneously, the banana peppers in a seedling tray exhibit much slower germination and growth compared to those in the 4-inch pots. And a few days ago, I moved the banana pepper seedlings into the ground.
I’ve relocated the 4-inch plastic pots with luffa and hyacinth beans to the fence area too and let them grow right inside those 4-inch pots in that area.
