How To Create An Animated Footer Image For Steemit Using GIMP
NOTE: Some parts of this video are 2x playback as they are not scripted; I just wing it usually. Unfortunately I am having issues using Dtube.video so I am still uploading via YouTube for the time being.
This video is pretty straight forward, using GIMP layers as animation steps. It is basically the same process I used in GIMP Tutorial Part V: How To Create Animated Banner Using GIMP.
Step 1: Create a New Image (400 x 200 px) - any size you want - with white background (#FFFFFF).
Step 2: File > Open As Layer... select your image(s) to drop in and Layer > Scale Layer.... Merge them down if not animating them separately.
Step 3: Add Your Text Layers with the A tool. Set sizing, font colors from left window.
Step 4: Align your layers. You can use the Alignment Tool or Move Tool to accomplish this.
Step 5: Filters > Animation > Optimize For GIF... close old window. Filters > Animation > Playback to preview your animated image.
Last Step: Right-click on each layer Edit Layer Attributes..., change your ms (milliseconds) between layers (1000ms = 1 second). Save then, File > Export As... (choose .gif).
