The Black Pete discussion is still going on in the Netherlands. For those who don't know, Black Petes are the somewhat dumb helpers of Sinterklaas. Sinterklaas is a Dutch tradition. Sinterklaas gives presents to children once a year and is sort of similar to Santa. Black Petes are black and this is considered rascist by at least a part of the people from non-Dutch descent. For this reason more and more Black Petes are being replaced by multi-colored Petes so that the tradition might appeal to more people. This, ofcourse, does not go well with some people, who don't want the old tradition to change..
