“Has he been as bad as you had feared?”, BBC journalist and presenter Evan Davis asked of India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi in an interview with activist and writer Arundhati Roy.
"Yes", Roy replied.
Roy then stated that the violence in India is terrifying and anyone who holds opposing views under Modi's rule will be stupid not to worry. And that today we're looking at a situation where the Muslims have been ghettoised and people getting lynched in the streets.
While speaking about activism despite fears of backlash, Roy poignantly emphasized that no battle is worth a fight should it not be about protecting something you love.
