Hindus and Muslims intermarry without much of a hassle among the elite. But the reality at the bottom of the society is chilling and different.
In India, the muslims paid the price. Whereas in Bangladesh and Pakistan (and also in Rohingya areas of Myanmar), the Hindus seem to be at the receiving end.
Love Jihad or Romeo Jihad is a campaign against Muslim men who're in a relationship with Hindu women. It's designed to discourage romantic feelings between Muslim men and Hindu women. All thanks to the Hindu right.
In India's Uttar Pradesh, where Yogi Adityanath the Indian monk and Hindu nationalist politician is the chief Minister, a Muslim man along with 12 of his family members converted to Hinduism, all in the hope that the murder of the man's son would be properly investigated by the police. The conversion was overseen by the Hindu right — Yuva Hindu Vahini (Bharat).
In Assam, the illegal Bangladeshi immigrants enjoyed a preferential treatment if they're from the Hindu fold, as opposed to Muslims.
In Manipur, the Hindus as the dominant in the state are above the law. The minority groups cried in silence. Someone's foot is on their throats. Here, religions are interchangeable with ethnicity. This low intensity warfare is the biggest terror on earth to the aggrieved souls. One can't argue oneself out of a pain – nothing is more real than one's own pain.
