The Law of Attraction is a frame of mind that essentially states we can attract the things we want into our lives using our frame of mind. We view the world in a certain optimistic or pessimistic lense, and shifting from a view of scarcity to abundance is crucial for success. In essence, we can dictate our reality, or at least significantly influence it by either focusing on the positive or negative in our lives.

As a small-business owner, employee or student, attaining our goal can seem like a monumental task. In reality, it is the sum of our thoughts and daily actions. If we feel we are starving from lack of resources, we will only focus on survival. If we shift our frame to one of abundance (or overabundance) we can relax and see opportunities. When I began my eBay sales career, I was extremely concerned with profit margin and would refuse to negotiate with buyers. I lost so many sales back then because of my inability to see the abundant field of buyers who would purchase more of my items as repeat customers.

Throughout our lives, we will face setbacks. We can frame setbacks as unfair and a source of deep shame and loss, or as lessons. If we embrace the law of attraction, we will learn from our mistakes and move forward. Gratitude for our customers, mentors and even competition helps us get out of our head and focus on the bigger picture. When I got started as an eBay seller, I was selfish in my desires to sell my wares for maximum profit. It was when I participated in the ecommerce ecosystem and bought items on the platform as well as selling items to grateful people at cost that my business blossomed. I was able to use the law of attraction to my benefit by focusing on my goals, how I fit into the business ecosystem and by showing gratitude to other salesmen.

As Earl Nightingale once said, “a man is the sum of his thoughts”. We can make the choice to show gratitude, pursue our goals and make our thoughts dictate our world. The outside world may be harsh at times, and we may feel like a firefighter reacting to stimulus, but in reality we are in charge of how we act.
