Phoenix, Arizona from the Sky Harbor Airport.
Phoenix, AZ is surrounded by hills and the sun was setting by the time I got there. The sun sets there around 730-800pm due to the proximity to the equator.
Southwest Airlines is headquartered there, and the airport itself is not overwhelming. This is the fourth largest metro area in the United States that stretches from Mesa to Chandler.
The temperature was well over 100 degrees when I got there, and at night it fell to around 95 degrees. Phoenix is hot most of the year, and when you travel there from elsewhere, it is immediately apparent you need air conditioning.
The downtown is really nice. There is an upscale portion and alot of the nightlife is centered around the University. Scottsdale is upscale and you can visit remote desert locations if you wish.
