Home Grown Palm Date Recipe
These palm dates were grown on a majestic palm tree. They typically ripen during the Summer, and take approximately 3-4 months to mature on the tree. You know they are ready when they turn brown and get soft. Birds naturally eat these, so you need to either net them or pick them off the tree before they are eaten.
To eat the dates, some simple recipes can be used. Dates are very sweet and do not need any sweetener. Baclava can be made with dates and honey, but I usually serve them on a plate or add them into a muffin or pastry.
Date pastry can be made in a muffin tin with coarsely ground flour. Make sure not to overcook them and set the over to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. The flour should be mixed with sugar, egg and salt. It's very easy, and a few cups fill the muffin tin.
These pictures were taken by me of dates I grew that I have been watching ripen for a few weeks.
