Continuing the theme of boring coins from my last post, today I have yet another boring looking piece from my stash.
A 100 Markka minted in 1956. This is a coin I recently bought for spot price and it's also my first coin from Finland.

Yeah, nothing special here, just the denomination surrounded by trees and shit, which makes sense since about 75 % of Finland is covered by forests :)
Finland is the most forested country in Europe with 75 % of its land area is covered by forest. The dominating tree species in Finnish forests are spruce, pine, downy birch and silver birch. source
The other side of the coin is nothing special either
So, just the Finish coat of arms and in latin the engraving SUOMEN TASAVALTA for Republic of Finland.
As better visible above, their COA features prominently a crowned lion with a human arm holding sword while standing on a sabre.

The Markka was the currency of Finland from 1860 until 28 February 2002, when it was replaced by the Euro. Much like what happened in many EU countries the same year.
Speaking of euro, here's how it fares vs a regular Euro coin
Compositor is 5.3 g of 0.500 silver, 0.380 copper and the rest is zinc .120. So in total about 2.5 g of pure silver.
Ok, I think that's enough for today's coin. Usually I make one coin post every other day but I think I'll push more numismatic posts the coming weeks cause I have a really big back log of things I want to show... A back log that only gets bigger the last couple months 😂
