The Show Must Go On!
This is my entry for this week's Market Friday challenge hosted by my friend 
It features Fun at the Show.........despite the rain. Yes indeed! Who says the weather has to be fine before you can enjoy an adventurous day at the show? These images were captured at the Coffs Harbour Show which occurs every year.......rain, hail or sunshine!
Sadly, some families forgot how much fun it can be to throw balls into the mouths of clowns, ride the merry go round, have a blast on the outdoor rides in side show alley etc, because there weren't too many people around they day John and I visited........all because of a little rain!
However, everyone involved with creating, organizing and running the show knew that whatever the weather......The Show Must go On."
The city of Coffs Harbour is situated on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales, Australia. It is 540 km (340 miles) north of Sydney, and 390 km (240 miles) south of Brisbane and is one of the largest urban centres on the North Coast.
Some of the events held at this show include Cat Judging, Cake decorating displays and demonstrations, face painting, beef cattle judging, farmyard workshops, wood chopping, quilling, knitting and spinning demos, card making and scrap-booking and lets not forget about the rides and sideshow entertainment.
The rain didn't bother me, so I did the side show circuit. A friendly, larger than life blue bear type thingy called 'Scoot' was greeting children as they lined up for free lolli-pops.
A lone train driver had the fenced in train ride all to himself. He and the little blue train with the big smile existed only for each other and didn't seem to mind going around and around in circles........indefinitely. The things you do when you're young......very young.
A group of horses and their riders were going through their paces, giving onlookers (such as they were) an appreciation for their discipline and skill.
A sideshow is not complete without the expected waffles, hot dogs, toffee apples, fairy floss, donuts and snacks, both hot and cold.
Thankfully, a food van offering healthier options was nearby.
Kiddie land remained kiddie-less while we were there. Hopefully the weather improved later on in the day.
A big green cuddly toy was hangin' around waiting for attention.
A couple of kids were hanging around too, attached with safety harnesses to expanding ropes. They were lifted high in the air and let down again as the ride moved in circular motions.
Dumbo was on the lookout for some kids to take on a ride with his mates below. He was not having much luck.
I was offered an extra long ride on a scary vertigo inducing machine by a friendly but bored operator. I was not tempted. At all!
Even these green piglets were bored. I heard one say to his companion, "I never thought I'd be wanting someone to come and take pot shots at me, but anything is better than looking out at an empty show ground, hour after interminable hour!"
Prizes for patrons who knew how to shoot, sat in colourful rows longing to be rescued from their crowded conditions.
The likelihood of me shooting the required target in order to take home one of these cute, cuddly stuffed toys was slim indeed. So I settled for taking my cute, cuddly companion home instead.
