Roses. Who can resist them? Not me. And if you're like me, you'll pause, in the fragrant presence of a rose and you'll admire the exquisite shape of its tiny buds, the emerging flower itself, and the fully opened rose with its smooth pliant petals curling over each other in their quest to garner every bit of attention they can receive.

Other uses for roses are for making jam, jelly, marmalade, soup or teas. The teas are brewed mainly for their vitamin C properties. A range of roses have been traditionally used in herbal, folk and Chinese medicines with some species reported to benefit stomach problems. There are apparently investigations ongoing to assess their ability to control the growth of cancer.
