Taito are bringing back the iconic white gi and red gi wearing characters that populated early arcade fighting games. Yes, the same style that Capcom later used to differentiate Rye and Ken in the Street Fighter franchise. The difference here is, SAKA-DOH plans to turn the action genre on its head, literally.
Not Your Typical Use of a Helicopter in 80s Entertainment
Growing up watching C rate movies had me more concerned with the dangers of helicopters and crossing the mob than it would be in adult life. SAKA-DOH takes that idea and makes it more friendly to the one tied to the copter surviving and making it the premise for an action game.
Dangling from the helicopter, connected by one leg leaving your other leg for kicking, you must out upside down fight the enemy to save your love who was kidnapped.
Seriously, who in this game world thought this would be the ideal way to fight in the sky? I mean, it is certainly eye catching from a gamers’ point of view, but practicality rears its ugly head quickly.
What If Your Ship Could Kick?
I must admit, punching and kicking enemies, as well as throwing fireballs and other weapons, while upside down under a helicopter is a unique idea. It is like they took the scrolling shooter genre and decided, what if your ship could kick?
I mean, it will be interesting to see where this goes.
Flying over levels, often just above the tree, it looks exhilarating and could provide extra challenges when avoiding obstacles. How many games have you played where you had to avoid treetops while throwing out a fireball or trying to land a kick on an enemy?
I have wishlisted it on Steam just because of the premise. I am not sure if I will press rent on this one (you don’t own anything you pay for on Steam) or not just yet.
