The Ghostbusters media empire certainly has some blemishes on it, depending on your level of fandom, but all in all, it is well remembered by fans. From my research on Ghostbusters LCD games, the one I am covering here today is not the first, it is the first dual screen style one though. If you are familiar with LCD games, then you already know what to expect here.
Ghostbusters the LCD game features two screens. Graphically, the developer used Nintendo’s Game & Watch style for this game. You must climb the building and reach the roof. The bottom screen features two floors requiring you to capture 10 ghosts, or so, per character to gain access to the roof. This means collecting at least 40 or so ghosts total and reaching the ladder four times.
This being an LCD game means the overall game must be simple. Moving left and right on each floor to bust the ghosts that appear in the doors is the prominent gameplay. Miss a certain number of ghosts and you lose the game.
Once you reach the roof you must fight Stay Puft Marshmallow Man and two hound demons. I have not figured out how to win here as all of my characters were wiped out before I could hit Stay Puft enough times to defeat him.
I am a huge fan of the first two Ghostbusters movies. I would certainly have a serious conversation with my wallet about justifying buying this if it was available as a physical product.
There are two Ghostbusters LCD games available though. One is in the style of Konami style of LCD handhelds (affiliate link) versus the other which leans more into Tiger Electronics styling (affiliate link).
