Paprium is a brand new brawler title for the Sega Genesis. Some of you reading this may know it by its former name, Project Y. Most that knew about this game probably gave up on seeing it years ago. Considering this fighting game was in development for four years it is easy to see why. Add in this being a crowdfunded project to better understand why many are mad over this game. With all that water under the bridge, WaterMelon have released their fighting game to the masses. Unfortunately, this is only for the hardest of hardcore fans. Casual fans need not bother.
Here we have an 80-meg of memory featuring 24 levels packed into the cartridge. There are five playable characters as you travel the world including Shanghai and Tokyo amongst others. Please keep in mind though, Paprium limits you to one or two player modes – there is no three or more player options here.
Yeah, not for the casual fan or financially challenged.
Sure, the price is lower than new Neo Geo carts but quite a bit higher than most Sega Genesis titles. Even recently released titles come in well under $100 per copy.
Your interest may or may not be impacted over that price. I just want to make sure you know before clicking over to the Paprium website what you are in for. Please note, you will need a Sega Genesis to play – this is a cartridge release after all.
Are you grabbing a copy of Paprium or passing on it? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below.
