Obviously, the odds of the Fatal Fury Trilogy Collection coming to North America are slim since the Sharp X68000 was never released here. That doesn’t stop this collection from being quite interesting. The Sharp X68000 was a gaming computer before gaming computers were a thing way back in 1987. It was known for near perfect arcade ports as well. This is one of our only chances to see how the Sharp computer handles Neo Geo ports.
Wealthy Import Fans Dream Machine
The Sharp X68000 was not a cheap computer in Japan at release, it was high end, more powerful than most competitors, if not all. Released in 1987 for about $3000, that is almost $9,000 in 2025 money. It is still well sought after on the secondhand market (eBay affiliate link).
Forget what importers were charging for this bad boy back then. Even gaming publications of the day relied on screenshots provided by Japan partners than swallow the cost to acquire the Sharp X68000.
Interestingly, this collection is for the Sharp X68000 Z (eBay affiliate link), the NES Mini version of the gaming computer. Nice to see companies supporting new iterations of classic platforms like this.
A Fighting Game Fans Dream
The Fatal Fury Trilogy Collection, as the name implies, collects three classic Neo Geo Fatal Fury games in one purchase. Fans will get Fatal Fury, Fatal Fury 2, and Fatal Fury Special.
Fans of one-on-one fighting games know the name Fatal Fury. If you do not know what Fatal Fury is, this collection is likely not for you - it is no Fortnite or Call of Duty.
According to Time Extension.com and 4Gamer.com, Fatal Fury Trilogy Collection will be available on March 26th, 2026 on an SD card.
There will also be reproductions of game manuals and other artwork/packaging made available.
Please note, you will have to import from Japan, unless you find an option in North America that has imported, or will. The price is not going to be cheap but when has that stopped fans? We are talking about Neo Geo games here (though obviously on a more wallet friendly format).
