These Blokees figures have definitely grown on me over the years. At first, I was completely against them, who wants a Transformer that doesn't TRANSFORM? Apparenytly I do.
This is my first Decepticon Insecticon (I think there are extremely few Insecticons in the line so far). I have noticed that I am seeing far more Decepticons than Autobots in my unboxings so far (about 16 or 17 of them so far with almost 75% being Decepticons). I am not complaining as when I was growing up, I didn't collect many of the bad guys. I never could afford Soundwave or Megatron (though my parents were fine with me having a toy that was a gun - we had BB rifles already).
For a lot of people, these not transforming is a bummer but for everyone else, they are snap together model kits that are simplified beyond belief. It is a necessity of mass production for a mass audience and it works.
You can certainly take pieces of different characters and create your own amalgation monstrosity, within reason (You are not going to be building something much bigger than the original figure itself).
Parents, please keep in mind, there are extremely small pieces involved (often the pieces that make the face/head). Please keep an eye on younger children if you plan to gift these. They will likely need help assembling and definitely need supervision during the building process.
