RE: The relative death of backpacking
a lot of countries consider backpackers to be undesirable as well because they don't spend very much money. Hostels are a dying thing and when I revisit the places I went to 10 or 20 years ago there are

RE: Backpacking tip: Take the night train or bus instead of flying
train stations are really dangerous in South Africa? Is anything safe there? :)

RE: Travel tips: leave the jeans in your bag
some of the outfits I see people wearing on airplanes are downright embarrassing to witness. It's like they are in their own private bedroom with the sweats and PJ's but like you say, getting to sleep

RE: People blaming all flight prices on "the war"...
If anyone ever comments about some sort of global fuel shortage just point to christmas every single year. Prices skyrocket during those times and it has nothing to do with availability of fuel.

Some people just want to try to make everything political. Supply and demand has existed since the beginning of time

RE: Is it really too much to ask for customers to board and exit planes in an organized fashion?
There's enough space for everyone's bags and if I am the last person on the plane I feel the same way. I travel light so even if I have to block my own foot area with my own bag I'm fine with that. I just

RE: Carry on > checked baggage... always
airlines are out of control with their silly baggage fees. If any of the lies they tell about the plane needing to be balanced and what not is true, then why are the weights of the passengers never factored

the whole row to yourself dream is something that doesn't happen very often. It is much more likely to occur if you get there early and ask for an exit row though. There have been many times that I was

I would be willing to bet that the airports will be in top order for the world cup but also with a lot more security than they would normally have given the current events in the world. I bet immigration

The Dirty Laundry - by Paulo Coelho I know this name. Without cheating and googling it I am going to say that I have read several medium sized books by him. Kind of inspirational stuff. A friend of mine

RE: For most airlines "personal item" is not what it sounds like
More often than not I ignore budget airlines when booking a flight. The "regular' airlines don't hassle you and they cost something silly like 10% more. They are also just nicer, generally speaking

what a wonderful response! I have not had the misfortune at dealing with Scoot but I have seen videos of people ripping the wheels off of their own bags because of something like this. 1cm is just absurd.
