A sphere is a solid of geometry, a 3 dimensional object shaped like a ball which every point on the surface has the same distance from the center. The size of a sphere is defined by the radius, the distance between the centre of the sphere and the periphery. Spheres appear in nature when a surface wants to be as small as possible. However the earth is a spheroid which means it just misses out on being a sphere in just one direction.
