San Pietro in Vincoli was built during the fifth century to house the relics of Saint Peter’s when he was imprisoned in Jerusalem. The basilica is different from any other church built during that century thanks to its simplicity and scare decoration. Under the main altar there are the chains of Saint Peter, the church’s most important element. There is also the Michelangelo’s striking statue of Moses which was designed during the 1505 and 1515.
