I remember hearing this quote when I was in the personal development circle...And it went like this:
"God's delays are not His denials".
Seemed like something a 'success guru' might spit, but I always wanted to know, was that quote actually biblical.
I mean, let's take a look at our track record as a species. Since the fall, I would argue, it's more God's patience rather than a delay.
And yes, obviously, He is delaying His second coming because He's trying to save as many as possible. But I was still searching the bible for that quote....Was it actually biblical?
A simple Google search will let you know, that it's not a verse found in Scripture, however there are plenty of verses that describe the 'idea' that made this quote so popular.
My favorite would be:
And tonight, I had an interesting real life application of this verse...It's story time with Jongo once again :)
So I was at my last stop for the evening and when I'm on the road, I order food to my truck every now and again. I wanted some shawarma tonight, because it's the greatest food on the planet lol And it was delivered to me by a young guy, doing deliveries for DoorDash (a delivery service here in North America).
He got out of his car and approached me, and asked shared his story with me. He had got his commercial driver's license almost a year ago and has been looking for work since.
He told me that every time he applies somewhere they tell him he needs experience. Which is the chick and the egg situation here in Canada.
There's a huge need for commercial truck drivers, but companies don't hire new drivers because the cost of insuring new drivers is astronomical.
I shared with him, my story which....Was very much similar to his. I got my license and worked everywhere I could, sometimes for months without a pay check, just to get the experience.
It's so hard for new drivers, because you get that shiny new commercial license and expect to hit the road immediately. And it just doesn't happen.
You have to claw and scratch, and sometimes even take losses to get that experience. Once you get about a year under your belt, then the industry opens up.
And that's what happened to me.
I actually worked for months with a company, that ended up going bankrupt and never paid me for about 3 months of work.
But guess what I got instead? Experience!
I feel for the guy, because I know the struggle all too well as a new truck driver. But God's.....Delays...Are not His denials!
I truly believe God puts us through situations to see how much faith we have. In my case, I was in desperate need of employment, so I took whatever I could. And while it was rough for a few months, I eventually got the experience I needed...
I was not denied!
I never cursed God. And the message in Psalms 27:14 is so powerful to me to hold onto, because I lived it.
I hope that anytime you feel like you are being delayed by our Creator, you remember....It's never a denial. Hold fast, wait on the Lord!
He's worth it.
