"Grandma grandma" The kids called out to my mum just as they saw her coming from the gate.
My five year old son rushed over to her,
Him :grandma you came today ?,come see what my mum cooked today, she made bean soup, and it is very sweet. He said in his adorable tiny voice that it didn't fit his face since he is a boy.
Grandma: hehe really she cooks bean soup? Okay where is my own? She playful asked him
Him: it is in the kitchen grandma, my mum cooked it just now and we have eaten.
Well this was the conversation that went on between them till my mum stated her purpose for coming over and I escorted her to the road home.
Not long after about a week, I had planned to deliver a message to my mum, about news on her sisters child's health, she had been worried about how they were coping, just as we entered the house a familiar scent of beans heat me, I knew there was songs going on in the kitchen , so I greeted my elder sister who was at her sewing machine, she was in her phone, I always wonder how she's able to cope online and offline.
Me: Good afternoon sis.
Her : Hey, ima, how are you, I didn't hear you come in, mummy is in the kitchen cooking. Ehn ehn so you are the one that invented the beans soup abi? She asked in a playful manner
Me:I didn't invent anything. I saw the video on YouTube and decided to try cooking something different for a change.
Her: Well your change has caused a problem, mum, has been cooking this bean soup since she last visited your place. You see that is the problem. I want to eat something else.
I smiled just as I saw my mum come out of the kitchen, her body was covered in sweat due to the heat from the kitchen.
Mum: Ima , you are here, how are you? She asked
Me: Mummy I am good, I heard you are cooking means soup, heheheeh, is it that delicious that you want to cook it often?
I knew my family loved beans, but not to the extent of cooking daily, then mum said something funny.
Mum:We like beans in this house so we need to find ways to enjoy the brand more, and aside from the beans itself, I love the smell it gives when cooking. Especially when you add that seedly leaf that makes that particular vegetable scent.
Me: I also do love it, and the soup tastes unique in its pay. When I am cooking the aroma goes everywhere and leaves the house in another state.
We laughed as she served some to me on a plate with rice.
