Addiction is not a new thing to many of us in the sense that we humans are prone to get addicted to things or what we are used to doing and this is the same with our phones.
A Lot of us are so addicted to our phones that we go anywhere with it and can't do without it, I once heard someone say that her phone was her life and that she doesn't know what she would do without the phone, well it's true that we do a lot of things on our phones, for someone like me I do almost everything on my phone and so I don't think I would go anywhere without my phone.
Last week I am my course mate were discussing about how we were going to prepare for exams and she said she was going to be in school throughout the period which was what I intended to do also, we were still discussing when she said she wasn't going to bring her phone to school during the exam period, I stopped and looked at her and I asked again to make sure I was hearing her well and she repeated it.
Looking at it, throughout this week I haven't been too active on my phone because I have been doing some intensive reading for my exams, sometimes I forget I have a phone, and how I have been doing this is that I turn on the "Do not Disturb", this is so I don't get distracted by any notification or whatever.
It hasn't been easy I must say, but to me, I don't think I can do without my phone, I remember the night my phone got faulty all because we didn't have any power supply and I went to the next house to charge it, I went back to get my phone and noticed my phone refused to come on, and the next day I had to go to school and I wouldn't be back until Sunday night, that night I had to disturb my husband about fixing the phone the next day, I mean I don't even have the money to get it fixed immediately I had to borrow from one of our street neighbor just so it can be fixed and I had to withdraw my hbd from saving to pay the woman back.
I remember waiting that morning for the shop that sells the phone part to open because we left the house very early in the morning. I mean if I can borrow to get my phone fixed, I don't think there is anything that would stop me from being with my phone apart from exams just like this period that I have to minimize my usage of it, but that doesn't totally mean I am off it, because if I am then I wouldn't make this post.
I said in one of the hive learners member's posts yesterday that it can only be someone who is disciplined to stay away from his or her phone for a certain period to be able to achieve something. that being said is something I have been doing, I am with my phone when it is totally necessary because I have a lot on it, and I use it for hive and to be on hive requires time for engagement and everything, and my PC is bad, so it's my phone that does all the job for now till I am able to get my PC fixed.
One advantage that the phone has to a PC is that the phone is portable and can be carried anywhere one goes and that is why it is as if people are addicted to it, I won't call it an addiction per day but I would say so far some things are needed to be done on it then it is work-related and essential to be used.
So my coursemate that said she was going to keep her phone at home is because she knows she wouldn't be able to concentrate if the phone is with her, but I am not like that , I can't be without my phone because for many reasons but I can control my usage of it just like I am doing during this exam period.
Thanks for Stopping by
