I Missed the Cro.trade Launch—Here's Why It Matters for the Cronos Community
Today, on X, I discovered that cro.trade recently launched a mobile app. I completely missed the webapp launch. Cro.trade is a trading platform on the Cronos blockchain. This is a significant development for the Cronos community as it offers many of the same features that the Cronos development team are creating for their onchain wallet, the Cronos App.
Cro.trade offers token swaps, perpetuals, and prediction markets on Cronos. These are some of the same products that the Cronos App plans to launch sometime this summer.
At first, I thought I had missed the announcement of the Cronos App relaunch. They had stated that the existing Cronos App would update with the new interface and features. I was a bit confused to see a separate app with a new name, cro.trade in my X feed.
I had to do a little research to be sure that cro.trade is legit. It is real. But, it is by a separate team of developers.
Fwiz, Ryan Wyatt, the CEO of Cronos, acknowledged cro.trade and clarified that it's a different team and product. He is also rooting for their success. The main goal of the Cronos network team is to bring more users to the network. Competition, in this case, is a good thing.
Cro.trade includes buybacks of CRO and CRONUS for use as rewards, which are distributed to users. It's not quite the same as the Cronos App, which will have buybacks and burns of CRO. But it is still activity on the network.
Cronos users, the crofam, are excited about the upcoming update to the official Cronos app. But for those who are chomping at the bit to trade perpetuals and prediction markets, Cro.trade is a welcome service.
The most prominent supporter of Cronos, the Coin Baron, has not made mention of cro.trade on his YouTube channel. However, Coin Baron has had interactions with cro.trade users on X, meaning he is aware of the platform.
