Orange trees grow on relatively high or hilly land. For this reason, all orange gardens are seen on hills and hills, rather than on plains. The height of each tree ranges from three to four feet to 10 feet. Even after maturity, orange trees live for 20-25 years. Orange fruits appear three months after the tree blooms. Long ago, oranges were cultivated only in the Sylhet region of Bangladesh. However, now commercial orange cultivation has started in Dinajpur and Panchagarh of the country. Meanwhile, cultivated oranges are appreciated as home oranges in Sylhet. Along with the headquarters of Sylhet district, Beanibazar, Gowainghat, Kanaighat, Jaintapur, Baralekha of Moulvibazar, Kamalganj, Kulaura, Srimangal, Chhatak of Sunamganj, Doarabazar and the hilly areas of Madhabpur upazila of Habiganj were once cultivated in large quantities. The locally produced oranges were exported outside the country to meet the demand. At that time, oranges were the main cash crop of the farmers of this region.
