Nelson is a small town in the South and one of the most remote places in New Zealand. The destination is well-known for its incredible scenery and awesome outdoor activities. My friends and I often went outside of the city for fresh air and adventure on the weekend. Visiting the Rainbow Ski Area was the most enjoyable time that we had during the winter season.
Rainbow Ski Area is a ski resort located in the Southern Alps, Nelson and operated by the Alpine Club of New Zealand.
I was filled with excitement and nervousness as I drove up the winding, snowy mountain. The ski field was a few miles away, but the uphill climb would be hard. After what seemed like an eternity, we finally arrived at our dream destination. We were in seventh heaven when first time seeing snow 馃榿. Rainbow Ski Area was enormous and the surrounding mountains looked stunningly beautiful with all the snow. Oh wow!!
There are a variety of great ski slopes and snow-shoe trails for all levels of experience in the Ski Field. They provide ski lessons to help beginners learn the ropes before they head out on their own.

We're all from a tropical country. It was the very first time we had done anything involving snow. To be honest, we had never skied before and had been looking forward to this day for a couple of decades 馃槃. The snow was falling with a thick coating of powder on the ground. The slopes were crowded and there were small jumps into piles of powdery snow. It has been such a wonderful experience. You can see how excited we were 馃槅
However, I just played with snow no skiing as I didn't dare to challenge myself. I need to get to know my own skiing skills before I go out on the slopes and my skill is Zero 馃榾
@lynnguyenAmidst the snow-covered mountains, there is a coffee shop at the ski field with some tables both indoor and outdoor. They have great food and drinks. Some of the drinks include hot chocolate, lattes, and more.
My friends and I had a great day on the Ski Field and I had a load of pictures taken. We didn't have an opportunity to come back after that as we moved to another town. If you are planning a trip to Rainbow Ski Area, there are many ways to get there. However, driving is the most popular and economical option. If you are not experienced with driving in New Zealand, make sure that you have a GPS and plenty of fuel for your journey. The drive will take about 5 hours from Nelson centre and should be done with daylight hours as it gets dark quickly in the evening.
