I have been able to do everything I have done so far through struggle. My life is a series of challenges that never end, with new episodes at every step. Every time I lift myself, there is something to keep me down. It doesn't bother me because I've had it as a part of my life for a long time. Yet, the people around me, who say they care about me, want the best for me, and encourage me, can't accept my opinion on this. They never let me down. They always told me I could be anything as long as I tried. They say it was easy for me.
Can't they see? I tried my best; I gave my best; I had goals and dreams. I had everything they thought I didn't have. There was enough failure for me, enough heartbreak, enough pain in my life that helped me get myself back on track. I know they think well, I know, or at least I hope. They want to help me. But I don't wish to help, at least not anymore. I'm out of their reach now. They have their own lives. I am not so selfish that I can claim their time and attention entirely for me. I can never tell anyone to sacrifice their time for me, let alone those I care about.
But in my dark moments, my annoyance increases. They have gone through what I have done, and I am Jamie. It is not easy for them either. The challenges I faced fell into the same hole; I know that too. That time was not easy for them. So how can they tell me that what I am doing now is easy? I was there for them during those challenging times. I never told them it was easy; I admitted how hard it was for them because I stayed there and witnessed their hard times. I helped them. I did not save them from the truth; I never satisfied them with the hardships that could come.
I was by their side in everything, still am. I sacrificed for them, fought for them, and supported them all the time. I want nothing in return; I am a good man, a good friend, a good lover, a good boy. Give me help and give up my time; I don't want to get anything back, but how has life proved wrong? I want to help them, just as I helped them before.
I want them to sacrifice for me, as I did for them. I want them to be there for me, just as I was for them. I want them to sacrifice their time for me the way I did. I want all of this, yet why do they sound like it was easy where I am now. I was there for them during those challenging times. I never told them it was easy; I admitted how hard it was for them because I stayed there and witnessed their hard times. I was by their side in everything, still am. I sacrificed for them, fought for them, and supported them all the time. I want nothing in return; I thought am a good man, a good friend, a good lover, a good son. I don't want to get anything back, but how has life proved wrong?
I want to help them, just as I helped them before. I want them to sacrifice for me, as I did for them. I want them to be there for me, just as I was for them. I want them to sacrifice their time for me the way I did. I want all of this, yet why do they sound like it was easy where I am now.
