Nowadays the use of wooden sleepers has decreased. At present sleepers made of cement and iron are more commonly used. These sleepers are very durable. Wooden sleepers were used in the nineties. Wooden sleepers were made from the wood of a type of tree. I don't remember the name of the tree.

A few days ago when I was passing by Saidpur railway station, I saw many sleepers stacked by the railway authorities. These sleepers may have been worn for a long time.
