Recently, I got together with some friends who paint or used to paint, along with a few who draw but had never painted a wall before. We had a barbecue, spent the day chilling and painting my backyard, and everyone got to create something in their own style.

We picked a shared color palette to keep everything cohesive while still letting everyone express themselves freely. Since the backyard is also part of my roommate’s dog daycare and training space, it was a fun way to bring some color to the place.

As someone who’s experimented with digital art and all kinds of traditional mediums, wall painting was one of the few things I hadn’t tried yet. Now, tattooing is the only thing left on my list!

I used regular brushes, sand-colored latex paint, and some colorants to mix the shades I wanted. This was my very first time painting on a wall, so I’d love to hear what you think and any tips you might have.

Not bad for a first try, right?
