Psychology redefined
My experience of this word is that it has a lot to do with how humans act, think and behave. It is a vast topic of mostly (for me here) the human nature.
How is psychology defined ?
Dictionary: It is the science of behavior and mind
Etymology: The study of the soul, from the Greek "psyckhe", breathe, spirit, soul
It is obviously about or mind and our total living. It is who we are and how we live.
So a clue here I would say is to look self in the mirror. Look in the mirror and be honest about what you see. We often think that because of psychology we need to study someone who is mentally sick and ill. I would say we need to look (good ! ) in the mirror, to check our self and we our self accept the current abuse of life to go on. How we our self must be the object to study. If we look at how we think and act, in secret and in obvious, and accept inequality and crime, to go on in our world, does that not make us all in fact (very) sick ?
So for me it is crystal clear that within psychology we need to bring it back to self. Big time. And not accept the separation within, not accept the greed, selfish thoughts and ego of our minds.
Psychology is the science of human mind and living, but it is first and foremost about self ! Obviously we need to change our living, and that change start with self. No one else. I can't change anyone else so I must be that change myself.
The idea of psychology, at least in psychiatry, today is very clearly to sell drugs. It is about consuming and money. We can use the words: investigate, self intimacy, empower, understand, consider, care, realize and discover.
So psychology today is a money game and a game of chemical therapy and self accepting, self improving. Lots and lots of money. Psychology must be to investigate self. To work on self, to learn self, to forgive self, and to become friends with self. To embrace self. To develop real intimacy and understanding of who we are individually as humans. That mirror process is the real psychology. Psychology and psychiatry is mostly money making. The word psychology is rather a trick to deceive one from seeing the real deal. Again in the mirror !
