again, I disagree. DTs language is what I object to. I've watched live footage of DT speeches and find his language and insinuations not only highly offensive, but embarrassing as a citizen of the US with international friends. He might not outright say that they are all bad, but the way he insinuates it thru what he omits says as much,
"When Mexico sends its people, they're not sending their best. ... They're sending people that have lots of problems, and they're bringing those problems with us. They're bringing drugs. They're bringing crime. They're rapists. And some, I assume, are good people,"
"They" are bringing. Not "some of them are bad". They're rapists". what, every single one of them? Oh no wait. a tail end qualifier, some of them are good people. Not many. just some. This is so totally disrespectful and incredibly dismissive of the majority of Mexican people. Not theyre poor and uneducated and starving, which would be true.
And yes, THAT is a huge burden. However the way he words many of his statements about not only Mexicans but other minorities makes no attempt to give them the benefit of the doubt. He disparages and ridicules everyone. Or does he? Would he do this to all poor people? Would rich Mexicans be ok? Or are poor people from Ireland or Norway ridiculed as well?
No. You know why? because Both of them have money enough to take care of their own. They dont usually want to come here when it means leaving their family. Because to Mexicans, family is everything.
So really this is a class thing isnt it? If it isnt race, it must be class. DT thinks the US shouldnt have to support poor immigrants because he would rather spend the money on a wall and camps to keep out the "bad" people. Not all of us have those qualms. The bad people come from all classes. Epstein is a bad person. What class is he? What nationality?
Yes we have migration issues. Every country does. That is no justification for DT to say and do what he does in the name of protection. Change the law to implement the changes we need. But make it across the board. no favoritism for class, gender, religion, race. no holding people in camps with heinous conditions, no seperating them from their children.
people who come here do so because their life is filled with danger. we are above all, a nation founded by immigration.
People come here for the hope of a better life. Not only Mexicans, but people from Honduras, Venezuela, Ecuador.
“Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”
If you try to argue that Mexicans are an exception because they "might" do something, you are pretty much supporting the pre-emptive strike ...and ignoring the fact that half the people trying to cross over arent Mexican. Tell my friend born in Mexico whose dirt poor family came here when he was four, who became an architect by putting himself thru school, despite his poverty and lack of social circumstance.
Tell that to a work friend I had, a 50 year old Honduran lady. Both she and her husband work 40 hours a week minimum wage to provide for their family, but still cant get all they need because people dont want to pay spanish speaking people a decent wage. Theyre all replacable you see.Cheap labor.
Yet they are stealing the jobs from us? I wouldnt work those jobs ever again. Why? because Im an educated white girl. I'd rather starve than be treated like a slave.
