car alarms blared over cowboy crying
die die die die die die die die
there was so much gunfire the walls imploded
sideways in an orwellian funhouse
power lines umbilical cords tethered to the side
of that three story brick building poverty
see thru satine white lace curtains
trojan shadows twisting in an echo
cascading feet on the stairwell
her ceiling fan gargoyles
swooping down

blood trapped tired
air conditioning cycling stale energy
memories of death force days
of how she subsisted on stage set empty
home moldy bread and worn down dreams
waiting for the last act to walk on
those bright high wire
acrobat players with no net worth
standing on cue
living on cue
dying on cue

beer bottle gut in hand with
brass venus de milo
off stage lies in wait
she- slithering about a pole
there is nothing left to hold on to
beneath the layers of pistoned fat
his sleeveless bones
hide behind the camera's eye
a demon
to take away her soul
one piece of shelter at a time
