Escenario deportivo mundial
De una parte, tenemos al fútbol con sus finales de Europa League, entre el Sevilla español y la Roma italiana que se realizará hoy y servirá de antesala a la final de la Liga de Campeones de Europa que se efectuará el 10 de junio, entre los equipos de Manchester City y el Inter de Milán.
Por otra parte, tenemos la final de la Asociación Nacional de Baloncesto que comienza mañana y que enfrentará en las ciudades estadounidenses de Denver y Miami a los Nuggets de Denver y los Heat de Miami. Además de estos hay otros eventos de relevancia internacional que se están realizando o están por iniciar.
La publicación de hoy no abordará estos torneos deportivos, sino, un evento que es de los más prestigiosos en la escena deportiva y que el autor desea poner a la consideración de los miembros de la comunidad algunos elementos relacionados con él.

Cuando se hable de eventos deportivos de gran prestigio se deben mencionar a los cuatro Grand Slam de Tenis y dentro de ellos está el Roland Garros. Este evento que se juega en la capital de Francia es el segundo del año. Los otros tres son el Abierto de Australia, Wimbledon, en Inglaterra y el Abierto de los Estados Unidos. Estos son los torneos que más puntos le otorgan a los tenistas, para el escalafón por el que se realiza el ranking.
Varios elementos importantes del Roland Garros. Entre los más importantes podemos señalar los siguientes:
•Esta es la edición número 127 del torneo.
•El tenista que más veces ha ganado este torneo es el español Rafael Nadal con 14
•El país que más veces ha levantado el trofeo de campeón es Francia
•Este es el único Grand Slam que se juega en superficie de tierra batida, pues Wimbledon se juega sobre césped y Australia y Estados Unidos sobre superficie dura.
•Los tres mejores tenistas de la historia han ganado este torneo, al menos una vez: Roger Federer lo ganó una vez y Novak Djokovic lo ha ganado 2 veces.
•De los participantes en esta edición, sólo el serbio Djokovic ha logrado alzar el trofeo del Roland Garros.
El gran ausente
Dentro de las noticias más relevantes de esta edición está el hecho que su gran animador y mayor referente histórico no estará compitiendo. Desde hace meses el mallorquín Rafael Nadal ha tenido lesiones que le han impedido competir y ya declaró que se retiraba temporalmente de los terrenos de juegos hasta 2024, año en el que piensa competir a lo grande y retirarse por todo lo alto.

Si algo relevante nos ha dejado la primera ronda de este evento ha sido la eliminación de Daniil Medvedev número dos del ranking mundial de la Asociación de Tenistas Profesionales (ATP) quien sucumbió ante el número 172 el brasileño Thiago Seyboth. El ruso perdió en cinco peleados sets, ante un jugador que más allá del número que ostenta en la ATP ha regresado tras varias temporadas fallidas, después de haber sido una estrella naciente del deporte.
Reconozco que esta derrota no la esperaba porque en mis pronósticos precompetencia daba al ruso como un posible finalista por haber sido el tenista con más victorias en la presente temporada, tener el mayor número de trofeos levantados y estar en el segundo lugar del escalafón mundial.
Otro elemento que tenía a su favor era el tener a dos de los principales contendientes al título (Carlos Alcaraz y Novak Djokovic) por el lado opuesto a su organigrama. Pero así es el deporte.
Un comentario final
El Roland Garros nos depara muchas sorpresas en el camino porque se está realizando una transición entre tenistas experimentados y jóvenes.
En opinión del autor los grandes vencedores serán los jóvenes quienes ya vienen dando la clarinada con la llegada de algunos de ellos al Top 10, incluso, el número 1 es un joven que apenas tiene dos décadas de vida.
Más allá de quien gane la actual edición del Roland Garros lo cierto es que estamos en presencia de un evento top a nivel mundial que nos dejará como principal resultado un evento de altísima calidad y de seguro plasmará en letras doradas los nombres de nuevas estrellas del llamado deporte blanco.

These days, several top-level sporting events are attracting the attention of spectators and, thanks to the progress of new information and communication technologies, we can enjoy them in real time, despite the different geographical areas in which they are taking place.
On the one hand, we have soccer with its Europa League finals, between the Spanish Sevilla and the Italian Roma, which will take place today and will serve as a prelude to the final of the European Champions League to be held on June 10, between the teams Manchester City and Inter Milan.
